Therapy for Teens and Young Adults

1383751472Feeling Overwhelmed

Being a teenager or young adult can feel like walking a tightrope, with everyone watching and offering advice – but none of it helps.

No one truly understands what you’re going through, and you’re not sure how to explain it without feeling judged.

You (or your teen) struggle to keep up with school, friends, or family expectations. Anxiety is showing up as overthinking everything, feeling like a failure, or being afraid to make the wrong move.

What Life Is Like Right Now

School feels like an uphill battle, with anxiety telling you that nothing you do is good enough, while anger is often the only way you can express the pressure building inside.

Relationships have also become strained. The relationship with your parents feels overbearing, like they’re constantly pushing or criticizing, and friendships have gotten fragile because you struggle to feel like you belong anywhere.

Then there’s the future – college, career, life – all the big decisions that loom ahead and make you want to run and hide.

TikTok, YouTube, and Therapy Are Not the Same

Whether you’re the one searching for help or you’re a parent trying to support your child, I’m here to help teens and young adults navigate the challenges of this stage of life and find their way forward.

You may have tried to find answers through social media, but let’s face it: TikTok and YouTube aren’t where you’re going to find real answers about mental health. Therapy is more than a 60-second soundbite, and I’m not offering advice from my car.

When we meet, it’s in a space where you can take your time, dig deep, and feel truly heard.

Therapy gives you more than a quick fix – it’s a place to explore what’s really going on and build ways to handle life’s challenges.

I bring a balance of empathy, humor, and real talk to therapy.

I understand that opening up about your struggles can feel weird or intimidating, but I promise to meet you where you are – whether that’s confused, frustrated, or just plain tired of everything.

My clients tell me they appreciate that I don’t talk down to them or use overly complicated language. I’m here to help you feel seen, understood, and capable of making progress.

Therapy That Actually Helps

Let’s get real: therapy isn’t about lectures, boring homework assignments, or sitting in awkward silence while I nod like you’re auditioning for a TV drama.

It’s a place where you can say the things you’ve been holding back, whether that’s “I feel like a failure” or “I’m sick of everyone telling me what to do.”

And don’t worry about censoring yourself – if you need to swear or vent, go for it. I see that as a sign you’re being real, and that’s where the real work happens.

You Might Have To Bear The Occasional Stupid Joke

I also love using examples that make sense for your life – like your dog’s endless enthusiasm or how your cat seems to have life all figured out. Pets have a way of showing us resilience, patience, and unconditional love, and they often sneak their way into our conversations.

Sometimes, we might just laugh at how weird and complicated life can be. (Fair warning: I’m known to toss out the occasional stupid joke. It may not always land, but hey, at least it breaks the tension.)

My goal is to create a space where you can be honest without fear of judgment and start figuring out what you want – not just what others expect of you.

I’m not the “sit back and take notes” kind of therapist. I’ll ask questions, listen carefully, and offer practical ideas to help you start making changes.

Some sessions might focus on identifying triggers for anger or anxiety and finding ways to respond differently.

Other times, we’ll work together to untangle anxious thoughts or learn how to communicate without anger. And yes, laughter is allowed, even encouraged, because therapy doesn’t always have to feel so heavy.

What You’ll Learn In Therapy

We’ll also work on building self-awareness and self-compassion so you can feel more confident about who you are and where you’re headed.

We’ll talk about relationships – how to set boundaries with parents, navigate friendships, or figure out what you really want in life.

Along the way, I’ll do my best to make therapy feel approachable – even if it means throwing in the kind of jokes you’ll roll your eyes at (but secretly find funny).

Imagine What’s Possible

Working with me, you can start to turn things around and build a life that feels more manageable, fulfilling, and – maybe even – exciting.

Imagine waking up feeling more confident and in control, equipped with real ways to manage anxiety, handle stress, and tackle challenges without feeling overwhelmed.

Picture relationships that feel easier and more meaningful, setting boundaries with parents, feeling like you truly belong with friends, and understanding what you want out of life.

Together, we’ll work toward a future where you don’t just survive each day, but you feel hopeful, steady, and ready to take on what’s next.

You don’t have to face this alone – together, we can navigate the challenges and figure out what’s next. And hey, I’ll even try to keep my jokes under control… maybe.

If you (or your teen) are ready to feel more in control, more confident, and more hopeful about the future, reach out today.
